We love to help others and we believe that it is important to give back to our community. In collaboration with Chai Lifeline Canada and Home Depot, we created this fun and functional arts and crafts therapy room for children born or diagnosed with a serious illness.
About Chai Lifeline Canada
Families with sick kids face extremely difficult challenges, from the disruption of daily routines for siblings, to the strain on finances and relationships that come with hospital stays, and caring for an ailing child.
Chai Lifeline Canada helps Canadian families with sick children manage these challenges by offering a variety of resources and supports. In this case, the Joey Vogel Interiors design team has collaborated with Chai Lifeline and Home Depot to create a super fun, welcoming and creative art therapy room, where children with serious illnesses can play and have fun with their siblings, and just be kids.
Project Challenges & Goals
This room had to be fun, kid-friendly and colourful, but also highly functional and organized. Organization of the wide range of art supplies was key; everything needed to be easy to see and find. The lack of natural life in the space meant that creating a bright, cheery space would be a challenge.
Results
We used strategic lighting, bright, fun colours and lots of wall decals to create a cheery and happy space for kids to get creative.
Open shelving and clear bins make for an attractive and organized display of art supplies. Easy-to-clean surfaces allow the Chai Lifeline volunteers to spend less time worrying about mess, and more time working with the kids.
We hope this room provides many years of fun for Chai Lifeline's little clients!
