When I am designing an entire home I have what I call my "WOW Rule": there must be at least three things about the design that make people say "wow". Creating a focal point in a room can be as simple as a bold wall colour or as complex as a glass staircase. Here are my tips and tricks on how to create your wow.
Paint
Paint is probably the simplest way to create a focal point in a room. An accent wall will draw one’s eye and create a definite statement. Try Benjamin Moore Dior Grey!

Area Rugs
I consider area rugs to be artwork that you place on the floor. A stunning area carpet can tie a whole room together and definitely become a focal point.

Lighting
The jewelry of the space, draw people’s eyes with crystals, chrome and unique shapes. A chandelier can become the star of any space.

Mirrors
Another secret weapon for us designers are mirrors. When placed strategically and framed just right a large scale mirror can have a major impact on space.
